Challenges for the Asia and Africa Growth Corridor(2017_1_10_008)
Outline
This study is commissioned by the Ministry of Economy and International Trade in order to contribute to the preparation of the proposed Asia and Africa Growth Corridor vision in cooperation with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) in India, through providing the quantitative and qualitative analysis on the connectivity issues between Asia and Africa relying on the preliminary extension of the Geographical Simulation Model (IDE-GSM) to Africa.(Consignment Research Project (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, FY2017))

IDE-JETRO, in partnership with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) in India released a vision document for development of Asia and Africa at the African Development Bank’s Annual Meeting in May 2017. The cooperation among the three organizations for making the document was welcomed by H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India in his speech at the Annual Meeting.
IDE-JETRO conducted policy issue research titled "Challenges for the Asia and Africa Growth Corridor" in JFY 2017 to contribute its academic insights to develop the vision. This research was commissioned by the Ministry of Economy and International Trade (METI), the Government of Japan.
