ID software is ready for the arrival of the new ID card
17.11.2025
Today, 10 November, the Information System Authority (RIA) released a new version of ID software, 25.10, which supports the new ID card that will be introduced in the second half of November. The new ID card will bring changes to the appearance of the card, the chip technology, and the software, which means that the ID software will need to be updated for electronic use.
RIA Electronic Identity Department expert Silvia Lips noted that the release of the new ID software version is an important step towards a successful technical transition. ‘All organisations offering e-services should ensure that their systems are up to date and updated. We also recommend that users update their ID software before receiving their new card,’ said Lips.
In order to use the new ID card electronically, for example for authentication and digital signing, users who receive their ID card after 17 November must update their ID software to version 25.10. After receiving the new ID card, the user must change their PIN2 code in the ID software. Only then can the new ID card be used for digital signing.
The new version of the ID software can be downloaded from the website id.ee .

Support for the new cards was added on 4 November to version 2.9.0 of the RIA DigiDoc mobile application for iOS, and version 3.0.1 for Android will receive the corresponding update in the second half of the week. It is worth keeping your mobile app constantly updated by enabling automatic updates for the app on your smart device.
Information about updates to the RIA DigiDoc mobile applications is available on the website id.ee.
The technical transition may take some time, and therefore not all e-services may be fully functional in the first few days after the introduction of the new ID card.
