We originally reviewed this book as a bit of a joke - but it proved really popular and fits in with our policy that children should be introduced to technology as early as possible.

An attractively produced board book designed get your junior coders interested in semantic HTML. How cool is that?

The first in a three-volume set that started out as being for his own baby by NYC Web Designer John Vanden-Heuvel, this a ×ばつ7 board book is designed get your junior coders (aka babies) started with proper, standards compliant, HMTL.

It consists of just 16 pages of nice sayings that have positive messages, printed in bright colours and in well-formed HTML.

"It's never too early to be standards compliant! Show your little ones HTML markup code along with letter forms to get them started on the visual patterns and symbols that make up the essential building blocks of the Web."

If you know a baby who needs inspiring from the cradle onwards to code properly rather than lazily using a GUI editor, this would make an excellent present. It could also be an excellent way to annoy a colleague whose HTML coding abilities fall below your own high standards.

And if the little tike graduates from pure semantic HTML then there is now a volume 2 on CSS. So not only can they learn how to markup their favourite bedtime stories they can apply the necessary CSS to make them look good. Emphasising the separation of concerns by having two almost chewable volumes on the two topics seems like a really great idea.

At the moment you can only buy it from US Amazon but you can make an international order directly from the code babies website.
