"Asian Mayors' Policy Dialogue for the Promotion of Environmentally Sustainable Transport in Cities" Held
Ministry of the Environment, jointly with United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC), and Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) organized the "Asian Mayors' Policy Dialogue for the Promotion of Environmentally Sustainable Transport in Cities" in 23-24 April, in Kyoto Japan.
In the dialogue, city mayors attending from 14 Asian countries (Japan, 7 ASEAN countries, China, Korea, Mongolia, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka) have shared best practices and lessons learned, and discussed further promotion of EST on urban transportation in Asia. Through the discussion, the declaration of volition for achieving EST; "Kyoto Declaration" was adopted.
Ministry of the Environment will continue to endeavor to pursue fruition of EST in Asian region on the basis of accomplishment.
