The distribution of the "Environmental Education and ESD Talk" video series begins
◆だいやまーくPurpose
The MOEJ is promoting Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in order to foster next-generation who will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
The purpose of this video series is to promote capacity building, and to foster local leaders in the creation of a sustainable society by sharing stories who have an excellent work and practices in the field of EE/ESD in Japan. It is also aimed to encourage people those who are working on the EE/ESD in the world and who would like to begin the work, thought the thoughts on the principles and practices from the stories.
The video series has been created as a part of Japan side project by Tripartite Environmental Education Network (referred to as TEEN* hereafter) Japanese Committee and an outcome of TEEN. Distributing this video series is one of our contribution to achieve "Raising the consciousness of the environmental community at the grass-roots level" which is held as a target by TEEN.
*About TEEN
Japan, China, and Korea agreed to establish and promote a tripartite cooperation project to achieve the target above at the Second Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting (TEMM) held in 2000. Following this agreement, Director General's Meeting in 2000 decided to started up TEEN to promote the environmental education network, which consists of environmental education experts from the three countries.
◆だいやまーくVideo overview
Each video takes about 7-10 minutes to explain the significance and efforts of Environmental Education and ESD, and to introduce various examples. It also provides tips for people who are not only engaged in environmental education, but also for the general audience to take their own action. The videos are Japanese with English subtitles.
