It’s easy to record your group study sessions on iPad and get a searchable transcript.
Go to the Notes app on your iPad.
In a note, tap , then tap Record Audio.
To start the recording, tap .
To take notes while recording, swipe down from the top of the screen.
When you’ve finished, tap .
To see the transcript, tap .
Note: Spoken words in supported languages are automatically transcribed. If you can’t see , your iPad either doesn’t meet the minimum requirements or doesn’t detect a supported language.
Turn on iPhone Mirroring to see and use what’s on your iPhone from your Mac — without having to reach for it, so you can stay focused on your projects.
Make sure your iPhone is turned on and nearby, with the screen locked.
Go to the iPhone Mirroring app on your Mac.
Click Continue.
Enter your iPhone passcode, then choose one of the following:
Ask Every Time: Receive a prompt for Touch ID or your iPhone passcode each time you use iPhone Mirroring.
Authenticate Automatically: Automatically connect to iPhone Mirroring without needing to authenticate.
Note: If you see an alert on your iPhone that says "Trust This Computer?", tap Trust. You may be asked to enter your device passcode to proceed. If you see an alert on your Mac that says "Allow accessory to connect?", click Allow.
Choose whether or not to Allow Notifications from iPhone.
Make studying or memorising easier using a keyboard shortcut that lets you hear your notes out loud at a pace that you choose.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Accessibility in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click Spoken Content.
Turn on "Speak selection".
To have your Mac start speaking, press the specified keyboard shortcut (the default key combination is Option-Esc). If you set the option to automatically show the controller, it appears onscreen when your Mac starts speaking. Use the controller to change the speaking rate, move forwards or backwards one sentence in the text, pause and resume speaking, or stop speaking. Note: If no text items are available to speak, a sound plays when you press the keyboard shortcut.
To have your Mac stop speaking, press the keyboard shortcut again.
You can set a keyboard shortcut to quickly turn "Speak selection" on or off. Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click Keyboard in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down), click Keyboard Shortcuts, then click Accessibility.

Copy and paste to other Apple devices.
Copy and paste to other Apple devices.
Copy images, video or text from your Mac and paste them to your nearby Apple devices with Universal Clipboard — so you can get things done quicker.
Select the text or image on your Mac, then press Command-C or choose Edit > Copy from the menu bar.
On your other device, either tap (on an iPhone or iPad) or click (on another Mac) where you want to paste the text or image, then tap or click Paste.
Note: When you copy the content, it’s available on your Clipboard for a short time.
Use Split View to work with two apps simultaneously, like referencing a photo in Photos as you draw in Procreate. Or view two windows of the same app, like when you’re working with notes from two different days in class.
To work in Split View and Slide Over, you need to have these features turned on in Settings.
Go to Settings , then tap Multitasking & Gestures.
Below Multitasking, turn on Split View and Slide Over.
Open a second app in Split View
While using an app, tap (the three dots at the top of the app), tap , then tap to have the current app appear on the left side of the screen, or to place the current app on the right. The app you’re using moves to the side to reveal your Home Screen and Dock.
Find the second app you want to open on your Home Screen or in the Dock, then tap it. The two apps appear in Split View.

On an iPhone or iPad: Open Control Centre, touch and hold the top-left group of controls, then tap . Tap Contacts Only or Everyone for 10 Minutes to choose who you want to receive items from.
Note: The Contacts Only and Everyone for 10 Minutes options are available only on devices with minimum system requirements.
On a Mac: Click in the menu bar, then click . When it’s blue, it’s on. To choose who can send items to you, click next to AirDrop, then click Contacts Only or Everyone.

The Freeform boards you store in iCloud — and any changes you make to them — stay up to date on all your Apple devices when you’re signed in to the same Apple Account. To use iCloud with Freeform, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > See All (in the Saved to iCloud section), then turn on Freeform.

Use Image Wand with Apple Intelligence on iPad to turn a rough sketch into a related image that complements your notes.
Go to the Notes app on your iPad.
Open an existing note or tap to start a new note.
Tap , create a sketch using your finger or Apple Pencil, then tap Image Wand.
Circle your sketch, enter a description, then tap .
Swipe through the created images to find one you like.
Tap to choose a different style — Animation, Illustration or Sketch.
To refine your image, tap a description, then edit it. To save it, tap Done.
Note: Apple Intelligence is not available on all iPad models or in all languages or regions.7 To access the most recent available features, make sure you’re using the latest version of iPadOS and have Apple Intelligence turned on.
Minimise notifications and distractions with Focus. Set a Focus on Mac and it easily syncs across your other Apple devices.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Focus in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Do one of the following:
Add a provided Focus: Click Add Focus, then click a Focus, such as Gaming or Work.
Create a custom Focus: Click Add Focus, then click Custom. Enter a name, select a colour and icon, then click OK. For example, you might create a Study Focus. You can create up to ten.
You can also schedule a Focus to turn on or off automatically, customise app behaviour, and use Apple Intelligence to show you only the most important notifications.
Play soothing sounds like Rain, Stream and Balanced Noise from your Mac to help minimise distractions and increase your sense of calm and focus.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, click Accessibility in the sidebar, then click Audio on the right. (You may need to scroll down.)
Go to Background Sounds, turn on "Background sounds", then set any of the following:
Background sound: Click Choose, then click the name of the sound you want to set as the background sound. Click next to the name of a sound to download a high-quality version of it to your Mac. You must be connected to the internet.
Background sounds volume: Drag the slider to increase or decrease the volume of the background sound.
Turn off background sounds when your Mac is not in use: Automatically turn off background sounds when your Mac is in sleep, the screen saver is on or the screen is locked.

Use Writing Tools with Apple Intelligence to proofread your text and rewrite different versions until the tone and wording are just right.
Select the text you want to refine, Control-click the selected text, choose Writing Tools, then click Show Writing Tools.
Tip: In some apps — like Notes and Mail — you can open Writing Tools by holding the pointer over the selected text, then clicking , or by clicking in the toolbar.
Click Proofread.
Apple Intelligence checks your text for grammatical and spelling errors. All changes are underlined with a glowing line.
Do any of the following:
Switch between the updated and original versions of your text: Click .
View changes and an explanation for each change: Click and .
Revert to the unedited version of your text: Click Revert.
When you’ve finished, click Done.
Note: Apple Intelligence is not available on all Mac models or in all languages or regions.6 To access the most recent available features, make sure you’re using the latest version of macOS and have Apple Intelligence turned on.

Clicked send to your lecturer too fast? You can unsend an email in Mail for up to 30 seconds after it’s sent.
In the Mail app on your Mac, click Undo Send at the bottom of the sidebar within 10 seconds of sending an email (or choose Edit > Undo).
Note: To change the amount of time you have to unsend emails or to turn Undo Send off, choose Mail > Settings, click Composing, click the "Undo send delay" pop-up menu, then choose an option.
