EE368B - Image and Video Compression

Computer Projects

Part of the class requirements is to do a computer project. These projects can be done individually or in groups and should require about 40-50 hours per person in total. Prior project approval, Web submission of the project (Dec 1st), and brief class-room presentation is required. We will also organize a peer review process for the projects. Please refer to handout #13 Project Hints for more details.

1 Suggested Topics

We are suggesting some possible topics. These can be a starting point for you. You can modify them, or you can come up with completely new topics. You can also check journals and conference proceedings for ideas, e.g., IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on Circuits ans Systems for Video Technology, Proc. IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), and Proc. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP). You may use the IEEE Electronic Library. In any case, you are expected to submit a brief proposal (around 200-300 words) describing the project for approval. Please mail your proposal to ee368b@ise.stanford.edu, stating clearly who will be doing the project. Groups of 2-3 students are encouraged. You can submit a proposal at any time, but NO LATER than November 3rd.
