Hide unknown international messages

To prevent spam, you can turn on "Hide international messages." This feature moves messages from international phone numbers that aren't in your contacts to the "Spam & blocked" folder. These messages are only moved on your device and aren't revealed to Google.

Enable hide international messages

Important: This feature only works if your device has a Singapore SIM card.

  1. On your Android device, open Google Messages .
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial and then Messages settings.
  3. Scroll to "Protection & safety."
  4. Tap Protection & safety.
  5. Turn on Protection & safety and then Hide international messages.

After you enable hide international messages

Messages are moved to the "Spam & Blocked folder" when:

  • You get a message from an international phone number that isn't in your contacts.
  • You’re added to a group chat by an international phone number that isn’t in your contacts.

Move international conversations to your Inbox

To move an international conversation from the "Spam & Blacked" folder to your Inbox:

  1. On your Android device, open Google Messages .
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial and then Spam & Blocked.
  3. Select the conversation that you want to remove from the folder.
  4. From the conversation, tap Move to inbox.

Tip: All future messages in the conversation will be delivered to your inbox.
