Fix Local Guides issues for your account

Learn how to fix common issues related to Local Guides participation.

Manage your account

Your rewards count towards one Google account. You can’t combine or transfer your contributions and rewards between accounts. Learn more about our terms and conditions.

Manage your email preferences

You can choose which emails you want to receive from Local Guides. You can also unsubscribe from any email types, like News and Product Updates, and stay subscribed to Rewards.

To update your email preferences, go to the Local Guides settings page.

Tip: Changes may take up to 7 days to take effect.

Find your level-up email

If you can’t find the email that confirms you reached a new level:

  • Check your "spam folder."
  • In your inbox, search noreply-local-guides@google.com.

Appeal feature access restrictions

Important: If your profile no longer shows a Local Guides badge or you can’t sign in to Local Guides Connect, your account may have had its feature access restricted. Do not create another account to evade our policies or bypass restrictions on your account. You can review our policies and, if necessary, submit an appeal.

Check if your account follows current policies

To help users find helpful, relevant, and accurate info on Maps, we check all Local Guides contributions for policy compliance. We may restrict feature access if a user violates our policies, even if it was unintentional.

Our policies may change. Make sure your contributions follow the latest guidelines:

We can’t always let you know that you violated a policy before we restrict feature access. However, we do our best to contact our most active contributors when their content may violate a policy.

Submit an appeal

If you read our policies and believe we restricted your feature access by mistake, you can submit an appeal.

  1. Wait at least 10 days after the feature access restriction.
  2. Complete the Appeal form.
  3. Wait up to 3 weeks for our team to review and respond.

Tip: In most cases, we can’t share details about the feature access restriction.
