3. Adjust your Pixel Buds equalizer (EQ)
With Custom Equalizer (EQ), you can use sliders to adjust 5 different frequency bands and save your preferred settings. You can also choose one of the presets, like "Heavy bass" as a starting point. These settings don’t apply to phone call audio.

Customize your Equalizer
On a Pixel phone with Android 10+:
- Go to Settings and then Connected Devices.
- Under "Saved devices," tap your paired Pixel Buds' Settings and then Device details and then Sound and then Equalizer.
For quick access:- Swipe down from the top of your screen for Quick Settings.
- Touch and hold the Bluetooth menu.
- Go to your paired Pixel Buds’ Settings .
- Tap Sound.
- Choose an Equalizer preset from the dropdown menu. To customize individual frequencies:
- Choose a frequency from the list.
- Touch and hold, then slide to your preferred level.1
- Tap Save.
On other Android devices:

Open the Google Pixel Buds app Pixel Buds.
- Tap Device and then Sound and then Equalizer.
- Choose an Equalizer preset from the dropdown menu. To customize individual frequencies:
- Choose a frequency from the list.
- Touch and hold, then slide to your preferred level.1
- Tap Save.

You can choose one of these presets as a starting point to get audio that works for you.
- Default: Google-tuned to work best across all types of audio content
- Light bass: Reduces bass to highlight everything else
- Heavy bass: Boosts lower frequencies to put bass first
- Balanced: A more neutral sound that balances the instruments in all ranges
- Vocal boost: Makes vocals stand out
- Clarity: Boosts the highs for better understanding of the words in speech and more sparkle and brilliance in music
- Last saved: Restores your last saved equalizer setting
1Pixel Buds must be connected to the phone to activate this feature.
