Manage your Google Password Manager PIN

When you create a passkey for the first time on a computer, iPhone, or iPad, a Google Password Manager PIN is created.

You can use a Google Password Manager PIN to:

  • Help you to use your passkeys on a new device.
  • Make sure that no one, not even Google, can access your encrypted data.
  • Verify it’s you with your passkeys.
Create a new PIN
  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top, select More More and then Passwords and autofill and then Google Password Manager.
    • Alternatively, on the address bar, you can also enter: chrome://password-manager/settings
  3. On the left side menu, select Settings and then Change Google Password Manager PIN.
  4. Authenticate.
  5. Enter a new PIN.
  6. Select Confirm.
Reset a forgotten PIN

To save your passkeys, you can reset your PIN from a non-Android device on which you’ve previously used Google Password Manager.

To reset your Google Password Manager PIN:

Important: If there’s no "Change Google Password Manager PIN" button, it could be for a few reasons:

  • Your first passkey was created with an Android device.
  • You didn’t use Google Password Manager passkeys on this device.
  • You used passkeys with a different Google Account on this device. Try to change your account.
  • You removed access to passkeys on this device.
Reset your passkeys

If you’ve tried all your devices and still can’t recover your PIN, you can reset your passkeys. This deletes all your passkeys, which means you’ll need to create new passkeys for each site. Once you create a new passkey for the first time, you can set a Google Password Manager PIN again.
