Use the Jira app in Google Chat
Use the Jira app in Chat to get messages about updates to your Jira Software projects. The app sends messages from Jira to Chat.
Before you begin
- You need permission to install apps from your Google Workspace administrator.
- Add the app to Chat. Learn how to find apps and add them to Chat.
- Install the Chat Jira plugin from the Atlassian Marketplace. Your Jira admin may need to approve this.
Set up the Jira app in Chat
- Open Chat.
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- After installation, you get a welcome message and a card that prompts you to connect to Jira.
- Click Connect.
- If you already set up Jira, the app uses the site from the previous connection.
- Select the projects for which you want notifications.
- Enter the project names to receive notifications.
- Optional: You can use the multi-select search to enter the projects.
- Click Save.
- Optional: To edit notifications, click Edit notification settings.
Use Jira app commands in Chat
In a direct message or space with the JiraHub app in Chat, you can use slash commands like:
/jira_settings
: Opens the settings dialogue./jira_connect
: Connects to your Jira site./jira_view
: View the issue with the given ID./jira_create
: Opens a new GitHub issue./jira_disconnec
t: Disconnects your Jira account from the Chat./jira_help
: Displays the help message./jira_feedback
: Submits feedback about the GitHub app.
To get a full list of supported commands:
- On your computer, open Chat.
- Open a direct message or go to a space where the Jira app is installed.
- Enter
/jira_help
.
Change app settings
- Open Chat.
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Type
/jira_settings
and press Enter. The settings page opens. - Change the settings as needed.
- Click Save.
Delete app settings
- Open Chat.
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- To delete the configuration, enter delete config. In spaces, enter
/jira_settings
.
Removing the app from a space deletes the app settings.
