What should be done if i want to update the subsystem? I noticed that it doesn't show up in the upgradeable apps list in the Microsoft store. Does it work if i download the up-to-date msixbundle file, open it up and click the update button? Thanks.

I'd like to know as well. I've heard talk of people updating it and the Google apps persisting, but I don't know exactly what method was followed.

I suspect what probably needs happen is to re-package the modified WSA before installing it. I discovered the problem with installing it from an unpackaged source is that it can then not be updated via a newer msxibundle file.

Otherwise, I think the update steps may be the same as the initial install perhaps? In other words, unpack it first, but I haven't tried that yet. Though the gapps steps may not be required since it's already installed in the vhdx.

I've tried that way too, downloading the latest version of WSA and repacking it up with the GMS just as what's been done at the first time. That's a bit troublesome so I return to original version without GMS for now. Luckily GMS is not so needed in mainland China. Kind of blessing in disguise😂 Hope that there will soon be a better solution🤣
