Raspberry Pi hdmi_drive=2 Loss of Picture Quality
Ok, so I started to use my new Pi, it had no audio, after doing a bit of research I found I needed
hdmi_drive=2 in config.txt
and the modprobe snd_bcm**** in a startup file,
Well, I now have sound working, however since I have added hdmi_drive=2 I have noticed a massive loss in picture quality over HDMI, it now looks worse than VGA quality.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ben

Re: Raspberry Pi hdmi_drive=2 Loss of Picture Quality
I run tvservice –d <file> but I get an error
Very incompatible VCHIQ Library, Can not receive driver version.
Failed to initialize VCHI
So I can not find out which one from here

Try Hexxeh's firmware updater tool.
Re: Raspberry Pi hdmi_drive=2 Loss of Picture Quality
I also have the exact same problem.... on 3 different TVs! They are all 19" and are made by Dynex or Insignia.
The display is normally excellent but there is no HDMI audio.
When I set hdmi_drive=2 then I get audio but the picture quality is poor ... looks like the display is being overdriven.
Sound from all other HDMI devices work perfectly with these TVs... it's just the RasPi that gives the problem.
Any advice is appreciated.
Regards
