Text box "Playing time: XX minutes." pops up every 30 minutes.

Thu Oct 30, 2025 11:30 pm

Hello all,

New Raspberry Pi 5 that has a popup/OSD/notification that I can't seem to find the cause of despite a thorough search.

I thought it was something to do with video playing, but it might be a "the system has been active for 30 minutes" type thing. Every 30 minutes, it adds on another 30 minutes, but it might get reset with an idle reset? The box has been on for a couple of days now and it just had the popup for 30min (aside from background processes, only a terminal was up).

I switched to labwc in an attempt to work out if it was wayland/wayfire but other than that I've done very minimal changes to the config.
Have done the usual apt update && apt upgrade.
```uname -a
> 6.12.47+rpt-rpi-v8, Debian 1:6.12.47-1+rpt1-bookworm (2025年09月16日) aarch64```
What is causing this notification and how can I stop it?
Yes it will be a TV setting. Panasonic (and probably others do this). See here.
What?!?
Geeze... I never even thought about the TV having a setting, and I hadn't set up the xbox on it yet.
Thank you all so much.
