Azul Prime Java on raspberrypi 5, is it possible? (Failed to reserve thread stacks region)

Tue Jun 17, 2025 2:52 am

raspberry pi 5 running gentoo musl.
So I want to run a high-performance Minecraft server using Azul Prime (zing), since it's a musl system, I can't use the tarball which uses glibc.

Then I tried docker, but it shows

Code: Select all

pi ~ # docker run -it docker.1ms.run/azul/prime:latest java
##### addr(0xc40000000000)sz(0x40000000000), msg(mmap() error. Failed to reserve thread stacks region)
I even tried to recompile the kernel to enable hugepages support, but still the same error.

Have anyone tried this?

I don't think it's libmusl / glibc relates as I get the same error on a standard bookworm on RPI5.

Code: Select all

~$ docker run -it docker.1ms.run/azul/prime:latest java --version

There is mention on the Azul website of a 'ZST' or 'zing_mm.ko' memory management drivers but it also states that is not needed anymore since release 'Azul Platform Prime 19.07'. It alos states that huge tables is not required.

Not sure if the OP has found a solution since his original post was from June 17th...
