Is it not gonna have the ability to output analogue a/v signals?????
This was the main reason I got into Raspberry Pi. Please tell me that at least somewhere on this board can have something connected to give us NTSC/PAL

Analogue is available, but via pads rather than a connector.

Analog video has never been available on GPIO pins.

Relax, Pi 4 is going to be around for a while.
But, if you look at the release document you will see two pads on the Pi 5 marked "VID".

Will the active cooler work in the official case?
It seems a lot better than the fan in the case.

Heh, I appreciate that the Pi4 isn't going anywhere (I'm assuming kinda like the Pi3 which is also around).
The problem is more complicated than that though. See, I love retro games. There were never many gaming console cases made for the Pi4 because it came out shortly before the pandemic, and because stock had been so low, it demotivated people who even made these console cases to begin with. But now with the Pi5 hopefully this won't happen, and there will be many gaming cases made for it!
However, because it doesn't really support Analogue through an actual port, that means this "pad" will be inaccessible once it is inside a gaming case, as these things are usually designed to cover everything except for connectors. Analogue video is perfect for retro games, and if this is blocked, things will get very awkward... we're gonna have to get audio too, so that's gonna be at least 3 "pads" to work with. (IF we can even get audio too?) It used to be just perfect through the 3.5mm, and all gaming cases exposing this port.

Wow, surprising for a 2023 release, looks like a huge performance boost over the Pi4! !
Unfortunately, the POE position has changed and the previous POE HAT will not be available. I hope that the Pi5 POE HAT can be launched as soon as possible. This is exciting!
How to switch the other two DSI/CSI interfaces? Compared with CM4, there are 2 fewer mipi interfaces. This makes people curious about how it is done. It is incredible!

analog audio is missing from that list; would be two more pads etc at least (L/R) as well as some circuitry. A lot of people complaint on missing analog audio on the Pi400 ...

You'll get the 4-lane DSI/CSI now on a standard Pi! If you'll need the two missing CSI/DSI in addition you will have to use a CMx.

Please is there any datasheet for the RP1 southbridge? I am specifically interested on details of the integrated I2S being mentioned in the RPi specs. Thanks.

Pi 4 will also get a Bookworm update, of course - Pi always try to support all boards with the newest updates

no audio, sorry. (it will have to come through USB or through a GPIO extension) But possibly some vendors will offer finished pre-soldered solutions?

Unfortunately there is lack of RF connector for external WiFi antenna, to avoid shielding issues with metal case.
In general, the new RPI5 looks cool, but I just bought RPI4, so there is no chance to play with it soon.

There is no special support for AI (no NPU inside the SoC). The new cores will of course perform better on AI tasks than the Pi 4, because they are beefier.
Pi's stance is to only add features which most users need and want (now finally we get a power button :-)) - therefore if you need AI, you can add an accelerator, for example the Coral USB accelerator.

I'm using beta version of bookworm and can say that it has improved graphics with significantly better performance and very smooth UI. I like it and waiting for the release... :)
I think with a new CPU and GPU, which is even more powerful than RPI4, it will be even more great.

Good to see some relatively simple additions like on/off switch, rtc with battery option, fan connector... as well as pci, 4-lane csi/dsi. :D
Any plans for a 4-lane camera?

That is on CM4 PCBs, so maybe on the CM5?
Features on the CM5 can probably be guessed now ;)
Dual 4k60 for display market, finally.
Extra low cost CM5 without the RP1?
Perhaps the RP1 will be available to buy for motherboard makers?
Raspberry Pi Ltd just got into the South Bridge chip market?
Pi5 in production till 2035, that is a long production life.
There is no special support for AI (no NPU inside the SoC).
AI on chip maybe Pi6 or in a special DRAM, memory makers have been playing with that tech.
Since the Pi5 gestation was so long and AI advances fast, I was hoping but not expecting.
Coral via the PCIe perhaps possible now, check Jeff Geerling if he gets that going soon.

Yep, Manjaro, Rpi Debian 12 and PiCore 14 are using more recent Mesa drivers, been impressed with them so far.
Official Raspberry Bookworm held back till mid Oct release, final tweaking for Pi5?

Nice model update, congratulations to the team for this brand new Pi !
So many new features I can't wait to tinkle with.
One question though: Any chance to have the crypto extension on this new silicon ?

Thanks a lot, it's quite an important document, IMO.
Also, what USB OTG via the USB-C connector does RPi5 use, the original DWC2, newer DWC3 in the BCM, or something else in the RP1? Thanks a lot.
