Raspberry Pi Zero W (with Pi-hole) becomes unreachable after 10–20 minutes (SSH timeout, web interface down)

Sat Nov 15, 2025 10:26 pm

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a persistent issue with my Raspberry Pi Zero W: after about 10–20 minutes, the device becomes completely unreachable over the network. SSH stops responding, Pi-hole’s web interface hangs, and ping fails. The Pi still appears as connected in my router, and the LED keeps blinking normally.

Hardware / Setup

- Raspberry Pi Zero W
- Raspberry Pi OS Lite
- Pi-hole installed
- Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz)
- Static IP reserved in router
- Headless setup (no monitor)

What I already tried:
- Disabled Wi-Fi power saving (persistent)
- Fully updated system (sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade)
- Verified NetworkManager-wait-online.service is enabled
- Static IP reservation in router
- Using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

What I need help with:
How can I debug why wlan0 drops? Which logs should I check? Any known fixes for Zero W going offline after a few minutes?

I can provide:
dmesg | grep brcmfmac
journalctl -b after drop
router model/settings

Thanks for any help!
