3.5 jack sound working ?
my screen does not have built in speakers, so hdmi sound is useless to me.

hardware accel, kernel 5.20 should have mesa/vc4, is it working ?

Yes, it is working ( tested on a rPi4-8 as the previous rPi-400 cannot answer the question).
The YouTube videos are very smooth on full screen , the colours too appear richer., may be due to the expected hardware acceleration.

so 38 is for generic devices, right?
Yes, it looks like that.
It works on 64 bit generic devices ( x86_64 or ARM64) that I have tested. It is yet to identify Raspberry Pi 4 / 400 in neofetch output .
On an old Dell server, neofetch correctly identified the device as can be seen here, https://youtu.be/0YfMj9cJy9o

Fedora 38 boots up on a Raspberry Pi 3B, but it is painfully slow :(

For those that don't know, Fedora 38 is Fedora "Rawhide"

https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/releases/rawhide/
Rawhide
"Rawhide" is the name given to the current development version of Fedora Linux. It consists of a package repository called "rawhide" and contains the latest build of all Fedora Linux packages updated on a daily basis. Each day, the build system attempts to create a full set of deliverables (installation images and so on), and all that compose successfully are included in the Rawhide tree for that day.
...
Audience
Rawhide is targeted at advanced users, testers, and package maintainers.

As a Rawhide consumer, you should:

Be willing to update on an almost daily basis. Rawhide gets hundreds of updates a day, and applying those updates on a regular basis allows you to more easily isolate when a bug appeared and what package(s) are responsible.

Be willing and able to troubleshoot problems. From time to time there are problems with Rawhide packages, and you will need strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to gather information for bug reports. You need a good understanding of dnf and how to downgrade packages, as well as boot time troubleshooting.

Have time and desire to learn new interfaces and changes. Rawhide packages stick closely to upstream projects, so interfaces and command-line options are subject to frequent changes.

Be willing to reboot frequently to test new kernel versions and confirm functionality of the boot process. If you can’t reboot often, consider using a stable release instead.

Be willing and able to report bugs to Bugzilla as you find them and help maintainers gather information to fix them.
The next stable release of Fedora is Fedora 37 (not 38) due for release October 18. Kernel 6.n will be available in Fedora 37 but not at release date.

RStudio on F37 is working as expected. Unlike the F37 x86_64 Shiny Server smooth installation ( https://youtu.be/_em96qYoTDU ), Shiny Server on aarch64 F37 / F38 is only giving increasing number of errors :(

I'm glad rpm fusion stepped up to take care of the codec/vid issues, but fedora still blows.
chromium (free world) works for all vids i played.

on rpi400 still no wifi.
kernel was 6.1.15
gnome 43 is still a buggie, slow version.
still no auto expanding of / before or after setup. must do manually before you do updates or you could reboot to a no space error.

all i can remember, only played with a couple of days.

yeah, that boot up is so annoying, then you try changing the settings, uuugh.
no more fedora testing for me, totally not worth the time.
