Copy from USB back to SD card
When I set up my Pi 4 I used SD copy and enabled usb boot, but I was looking to move back to an SD card. The amount of used space on the USB stick can easily fit on my SD card, but what's the right method for copying the file system back over to an SD card?
Re: Copy from USB back to SD card
usb-boot will copy your running USB device to an SD card inserted in a USB adapter.

Re: Copy from USB back to SD card
Raspberry Pi with Desktop Operating System include SD Card Copier, which works with SD Cards & USB MSD.
Take what I advise as advice not the utopian holy grail, and it is gratis !!
Re: Copy from USB back to SD card
While I was able to use SD Card Copier to go from my SD card to a USB drive (and between two USB drives) I was not able to get it to go from the USB drive to an SD card (which was inserted into the SD card slot of the Raspberry Pi and not an external card reader)fruitoftheloom wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 7:30 pm

Re: Copy from USB back to SD card
It worked for me - sd card to pendrive - pendrive to sd card - sd card to SSD/HDD - sd card to USB adapter - USB adapter to sd card.
(It probably works for SSD/HDD to sd card too, but haven't tried it.)

Was the uSD card uSDXC? (If it was "pristine", exFAT they would not mount in the past: http://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi ... cards.html )
Have just checked with the USB/SSD booting P400 I'm posting from, and, having let the card** be automounted saw this:
Trev.
** Didn't proceed with the copy since it already had an old ("backup") version of Raspberry PIOS on it

Running Bookworm on a Pi5, a P500 and two P4B's but still using Bullseye or Buster on other (older) Pi's and the P400 I often post from. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm for notes & screenshots etc.
Re: Copy from USB back to SD card
its works for SSD/HDDs to sd card as well.... me tried this one!
well, it was a 60GB SSD to 64GB microSD (actual space used less than 32GB only on the source)

Re: Copy from USB back to SD card
When I pull up SD card copier, it shows both my devices when I click on the dropdown box next to copy from device, but no matter which one I selected copy to device remains grayed out saying no devices available.

Hey James! I know it's been too long since I've been able to do *anything* I've had a few kids, started a company, and now am getting back in shape biking, I'll have to make a post in the projects area showing what I'm doing, it's been a lot of fun!
Re: Copy from USB back to SD card
I think I've pinpointed my issue, I was never booting off the usb drive in the first place! I (thought) I had everything configured, but during one of my many reformats I did while testing I must have failed to actually use the usb drive and have been using the SD card this whole time
