Wolfram (CDF) Player questions

Thu Oct 01, 2020 4:21 pm

I'd like to install the latest Wolfram Player (rebranded from "CDF Player") for Linux on my RPi4-B's μSD card running an up-to-date Raspberry Pi OS full version including Mathematica 12.1.1.

But before I do, would someone please share any experience or tips on installing, running, and uninstalling Wolfram Player? Also, how compatible is it with the pre-installed Mathematica? Can they be run simultaneously?

Wolfram gives general instructions for installing it on Linux: "Wolfram Support Quick Answers: How do I install Wolfram Player on Linux?" Also see their list of linked Player support topics: https://support.wolfram.com/topic/wolfram-player.

Motivation: Converting old Mathematica notebooks (specifically, the Mathematica 6.0 notebook linked from Symbolic and Numeric Geometric Algebra) so that it is readable/runnable in Mathematica 12.1.1 following instructions at compatibility - Reading Early Version Notebooks - Mathematica Stack Exchange.

It won't work. It's built for X86_64 Linux systems.
Languages using left-hand whitespace for syntax are ridiculous

Thanks. But do you know/think that Wolfram Player will work on the beta test 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS?

Thanks for your typographical rebuke. Ignoring the obvious has left me chagrined.

What an entirely odd response, when I'd gone to the bother of downloading the Wolfram player, unpacking it on a Linux system and examining the contents for you.

Won't bother doing that again.

The Raspberry Pi SBC has ARM CPU Architecture, and depending on model runs either or both ARMHF or ARM64 Linux Operating Systems.....

..the software you want to use must be compatible, what you require is compiled for a different CPU Architecture x86-64, therefore it requires a x86-64 Linux Operating System.
Take what I advise as advice not the utopian holy grail, and it is gratis !!
