Last chance for The MagPi Issues 1-30
Our Kickstarter http://kck.st/1upaUSf to get printed copies of The MagPi issues 1-30 will be over in a few days and these issues won't be printed again. We've kept the price for Volume 3 as low as we can and have heavily discounted Volumes 1 and 2.

Re: Epiphany Disappointment
That's very odd. I've been watching YouTube, full screen 1920x1080 and no problems whatsoever with Epiphany.
In the preferences do you have "Allow advertisements" checked? It should be.
My memory split is the default 128GB... though I do use the RP2 overclock option.

Issue 12 is coming very soon and we will be testing the mag on various devices to ensure we dont get a repeat of the issue 11 problems.
If you are having problems with the current download of issue 11, please let us know where you downloaded and what pages are causing problems.
Thanks

Re: Nokia Pi LCD + Switch Shield board
Hi Texy
Mine is different. The pinout is:
1 - GND
2 - VCC
3 - CLK
4 - DIN
5 - D/C
6 - CS
7 - RST
8 - LED
Do you have an equivalent PCB for this layout?
Thanks
Ian

Re: Raspberry Pi hdmi_drive=2 Loss of Picture Quality
I also have the exact same problem.... on 3 different TVs! They are all 19" and are made by Dynex or Insignia.
The display is normally excellent but there is no HDMI audio.
When I set hdmi_drive=2 then I get audio but the picture quality is poor ... looks like the display is being overdriven ...

Where does RasPi get its power from?
I use a (genuine) Apple iPhone PSU to power my RasPi. This is rated at 1A. I recently got a powered 4 port USB hub which has a 2A PSU. But I was shocked to discover that with the Apple PSU disconnected, the RasPi powered up as soon as I plugged in the USB cable from the hub.
My question is if I ...

Confirmed Ray's solution worked perfectly. I too tried to install OOo some time ago but it failed. But installation via Synaptic works without any problems.

On a related note, has anyone managed to get Disk Utility (aka palimpsest) running on RasPi? This has a filesystem benchmark option but it does nothing when I run it!

Hi Skeeza
Don't beat yourself up. Now that I've got my RasPi I've started to do some real world benchmarking on my selection of SD cards and let me tell you right now that based on very preliminary results a Class 10 card absolutely does not mean it is the fastest. In fact a 4Gb Kodak Class 2 (yes ...

Re: Boot up time
I've read a few posts commenting on performance, or lack thereof, of the Pi. I am using a SanDisk Extreme III (20MB/s) 4GB card in mine and have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of my Pi. It boots Debian (debian6-19-04-2012) to the login prompt in 22 seconds and the GUI takes another 14 ...

Hooray!! My SanDisk Ultra 30Mb/s Class 6 card (from Costco) now works perfectly! Thank you dom :D
I initially had high hopes for this card because it had fast 4k random R/W test results with CrystalMark, so I was disappointed when it was the only card out of 7 other cards that didn't work.

I started this thread 2 months ago with the hope of identifying an SD card that would optimise the RasPi performance... and I thought we had found one... a SanDisk Ultra class 6 card available from Costco, which had great 4k random r/w times.
