In the as-is system, invoices were being created with the 'Valuation Type' field in the Purchase Order empty.
As a result, there are some PO items that were converted during the S/4HANA transition which also have an empty 'Valuation Type'.
While this issue can be resolved for PO items without history by manually entering the 'Valuation Type' in the PO,
we are unable to edit the 'Valuation Type' for converted POs that already have a transactional history.
We would like to inquire about solution to process these converted POs that have a history but are missing the 'Valuation Type'.

Below are the options to process converted POs with missing Valuation Type.
For POs with history but missing valuation type, you cannot retroactively fix them. Best practice is to block or close those PO items (set deletion indicator or final invoice flag). This prevents further processing and keeps history intact.
For any future procurement, create new POs referencing the correct valuation type. If the old PO still has open quantities, close them and re‐order with a new PO.
If invoices were already posted against POs without valuation type, you may need to handle valuation differences via manual FI postings or stock adjustments. This ensures your valuation reporting aligns with split valuation requirements.
