Hi SAP Community,
We have a question about downloadable fields when exporting journal entries and G/L account line items in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
Background:
We operate with multiple company codes and plants, and need to track:
- Which app was used to post each document
- Whether posting was manual or automatic
- Reference/source information
Questions:
When downloading data from standard apps like:
- Display Journal Entries
- Display G/L Account Line Items
Can we include the following fields in the download?
1. **App ID (Transaction Code equivalent)**
- Which Fiori app was used to create the document
- Example: F0717 (Post General Journal Entries), F1814 (Enter Supplier Invoice)
- Or at minimum: Document Type (SA, KR, DR, etc.)
2. **Reference Processing Information**
- Reference Document Number
- Original Document Number
- Purchase Order Number (for MM documents)
- Sales Order Number (for SD documents)
- Any indicator of manual vs. automatic posting
3. **Object Text**
- Document Header Text
- Line Item Text
- Cost Center Text / WBS Text
- (Clarification: We're also not 100% sure what "Object Text" refers to - any insights?)
Current Understanding:
- App ID is likely NOT stored in FI documents
- Reference document numbers might be available
- Various text fields should be available as selection options
Questions:
1. Which of these fields are actually available in standard journal/G/L reports?
2. Can they be added as columns in the download/export?
3. Are there alternative apps or reports that provide this information?
4. Any workarounds if these fields are not available in standard reports?
We're trying to avoid custom development if possible and want to use standard functionality.
Any insights from actual implementation experience would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

Good day @byd
Thank you for your question.
Answer to question 1 on available fields:
They are Document Type, Reference Document Number, Manual Entry Idicator, Sources Process, Header Text and Line Item Text and Cost Center. See Display Journal Entries & Entry View for Line Item Display for more details.
Answer to question 2 on adding column:
The answer is yes. You need to enable the fields mentioned in question 1. Thereafter, you need to export them and include them in the file. See App Extensibility: Display and Manage Journal Entries (Key User) & Display Line Items in General Ledger
Answer to question 3 on alternative app availability:
You should consider using the Journal Entry Analyzer, Manage Journal Entries, Display Document Flow and G/L Account Line Item Browser are alternatives you can consider. Have a look at Journal Entry Analyzer & Manage Journal Entry Templates
Answer to question 4 on workaround:
You can use the standard extensibility. You do not require any ABAP. You can either Use the Custom Analytical Query or use OData service for external reporting. The CDS Views, Journal Entry Item - Read (A2X), Custom Analytical Queries & Extensibility in SAP S/4HANA Cloud
Let me know if you have further questions.
Best regards
Chris
