What is with the forcing us to switch over to gmail? I don't see the big deal. So why force us to switch by Feb. 2026?

Moderator edit: updated subject for clarity

@Newfitkitty It's more than just changing your email to Gmail. I used Gmail as my email for my Fitbit account for years before Google bought Fitbit. You are converting a Fitbit account to a Google account. Starting in June 2023, existing users were given an option to migrate, but all new users and users of any device released after June 2023 MUST use a Google account. If you bought a Charge 6 today, you would need to migrate to a Google account to set it up.

The way I read it, you must migrate by the deadline or your Fitbit account will be deleted and all your data will be lost. Help article

I have a versa 3. Yeah I looked at my app one day and it said that. which really isn't fair. I feel like it imposes on freedom of choice.

@Newfitkitty I’m a long time Fitbit wearer, not an employee. Google has owned Fitbit since 2021. This is a Google decision. I have family who don’t use Google and have deleted their accounts as they moved to different brands.

I am a long time fitbit wearer and I'm very sad that I have to get ride of my charge 6 soon 😞 it's not fair to the consumer to be forced to change email and get a new account.

Hopefully fitbit/Google can find a solution to this

@Cyndy73 Well, if you got to get a new fitbit I once had a charge 3 and when I got a new phone I treated myself to a new fitbit and got the versa 3. It pretty good I like being able to see who is calling me without having to look at my phone.

@Cyndy73 if you really have a Charge 6, then you already have switched to a Google Account log-in. We have never been able to setup a Charge 6 to a non Google login.

You are not changing e-mail. After switching, you will not be logging in with an email. You will log in through a Google account.

Because they want all your data. Of course it's for your benefit that everything is rolled up in a nice little package for them.

Things have only been going downhill since google bought Fitbit. Nothing's improved.
