My fitbit used to tell me when to get up and move and I used to get my text messages but now I dont get either and cant figure out how to get it back, can anybody help please

It sounds like you might have accidentally gotten into 'do not disturb' mode, blocking all notifications. The procedure depends on which model Fitbit you are using.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Okay, good, in the sense that is a common issue with Charge 2 with an easy fix.

There are uses for the side button with a quick press, but if you hold it in longer, for a few seconds, it toggles you in and out of 'do not disturb' mode, stopping all notifications.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
