The danger of market dependency

The War in Ukraine has made very clear the scale of Europe’s dependency on Russian energy. Talking at the CEPR’s June 2022 Paris Symposium, Lars-Hendrik Röller explained the danger of supply chains that become too dependent on a single country with different political beliefs from the others. He says that, while globalisation and diversification are still very important, European policymakers should not rely on global markets as much as they have in the past.
