Julian Hinz is an empirical economist studying issues in international economics, most often related to economic integration and disintegration. He is Professor for International Economics at Bielefeld University and Director of the Trade Policy Research Group at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. Previously he was Head of the Kiel Institute's Trade Policy Task Force and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE). In 2018–2019 he was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Paris School of Economics and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
