Iván López Cruz is a faculty member in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Sabancı University and an affiliate of the Ostrom Workshop at Indiana University. He is an economist working at the intersection of conflict and development, with a focus on economic behavior in environments where property rights are weakly enforced. His research explores the effectiveness of place-based policies in reducing illicit activities, the links between migration and crime, and the relationship between international trade and conflict. He combines spatial analysis, applied econometrics, and economic modeling to study these topics. Iván holds a PhD in Economics from Indiana University
