François de Soyres is the Section Chief for Advanced Foreign Economies at the Federal Reserve Board. His research spans various aspects of macroeconomics and international trade and has been published in various academic journals and cited in leading newspapers such as the Financial Times, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and in Federal Reserve Governors’ speeches.
Before joining the Federal Reserve, he was previously with the World Bank where he was a core team member for the World Development Report on Global Value Chains and lead the chapter on macroeconomics consequences of GVC integration. He has also worked on the consequences of the Belt and Road Initiative and the systemic impact of transport infrastructure investments for the reallocation of comparative advantage across countries. Before joining the World Bank, he worked at the European Central Bank and held several visiting positions in the United States Federal Reserve System. He holds a PhD in economics from the Toulouse School of Economics and two Masters of Engineering from Columbia University and Ecole Centrale Paris
