Charles Yuji Horioka is Research Professor at Kobe University in Kobe, Japan. He is concurrently Distinguished Professor at the Asian Growth Research Institute (AGI) in Kitakyushu City, Japan, Invited Professor and Professor Emeritus at Osaka University in Osaka, Japan, and Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
In 2001, he was awarded the Seventh Japanese Economic Association/Nakahara Prize, which is given annually to the most outstanding Japanese economist aged 45 or younger. He is
President of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW) and former President of the Society of Economics of the Household (SEHO) and the Japanese Economic Association (JEA). He is also Co-Editor of Review of Economics of the Household, a former Co-Editor of the International Economic Review, and a member of the editorial boards of numerous other journals. His fields of expertise are household economics, the Japanese economy, macroeconomics, and international finance.
