ABOUT THE RAILROAD
The Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad is a fun-filled excursion for the entire family, located only 10 minutes from the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park off of Highway 41. The historic railroad offers train rides, food service, gold panning, logging museum, and the Kids’ Depot Toy Store. Our mission is to inspire learning and fun while experiencing our passion for local history! Come aboard from April through November.
Ride into history where powerful locomotives once hauled massive log trains through the Sierra Mountains, where mighty lumberjacks felled the timber, and flumes carried lumber to the distant valley below. The Sierra National Forest’s majestic woods provide the backdrop for this narrow-gauge journey back in time. All train rides are wheelchair accessible. Friendly dogs are always welcome on a leash.

Fun For All!
Such a fun, beautiful, and educational experience! Our guide, Mike, gave great information on the first half of the ride and had a great personality and sense of humor. About 20 minutes in there is a stopping point where you can wander around and enjoy nature for a bit (it had just snowed which was awesome!). After getting back on the train, you loop around and continue the ride. We had so much fun!

Rode both steam excursion train and took the rail car ride. Both excellent with Conductor Mike. On the rail car ride Mike skipped the narration we had just heard and instead we had a "train geek" discussion of the track, etc. I highly recommend this for railroad enthusiasts, history buffs, logging industry enthusiasts, nature lovers, etc.

An excellent day! The ride was beautiful and comfortable. The history of the locomotive was fascinating. The stories of the loggers and the history of the area were interesting and informative. My son panned for gold and the "miner" who coached him was friendly and a great teacher. Everyone was polite and helpful. A great visit to Yosemite!

My family and I had a great time at the Moonlight Special dinner and train ride. It is a great family atmosphere, the food was very good and the entertainment was a lot of fun. The facility is very well kept. I was shocked with how clean the grounds were. Will definitely do this again, recommend it to others who want a fun relaxing evening.
