THE WORLD BANK GROUP IN EUROPE & CENTRAL ASIA

Regional Economic Update: October 2025

After years of global shocks and uncertainty, economic growth in the developing countries of Europe and Central Asia remains slow. The World Bank Group is working closely with international partners—including other financial institutions and the European Commission—to help the region build resilience and lay the groundwork for future prosperity.

Our recent efforts focus on four key priorities:

  1. Supporting private sector-led job growth and accelerating economic activity through entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation.
  2. Protecting human capital by addressing the impacts of recent crises and reversing long-term declines in health, education, and skills.
  3. Improving digital and physical connectivity to expand trade and unlock new opportunities.
  4. Strengthening energy and water security, efficiency, and resilience to support sustainable economic growth.

By advancing these priorities, the region can foster enterprise-driven growth, create better jobs, and move closer to achieving high-income status.
