The Dunlap broadsides were printed on the night of July 4, 1776, by order of Congress, by John Dunlap, from his shop near the corner of 2nd and Market Streets in Philadelphia, just blocks away from the State House (Independence Hall). It is estimated that about 200 copies were printed, of which 25 are known to still exist.
