Latin name: Acronicta aceris
Special features: The sycamore moth is mainly found in southern England, where it is fairly common. The moth has a wingspan of around 45mms. and can be seen flying in June.
As the name suggests, the brightly coloured caterpillars feed on the leaves of the sycamore tree, as well as other deciduous trees.
