Inflation – annual inflation rate

Inflation is a general increase in prices, while the inflation rate shows the percentage increase in prices. In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

Correction – data on economic accounts for agriculture for 2024 are published again
Due to technical issues affecting the processing of data on fertilizers purchased outside of agricultural activities, the 2024 value was not calculated correctly. We are repulishing the data. The correction affects data on intermediate consumption and income indicators.

Following a price increase in the previous month, in September, producer prices went down again. On the other hand, prices are still rising year-on-year.

21 October, Apple Day
Last year, there were more than 6 million apple trees in Slovenia, most of them in orchard plantations, where almost 51,000 tonnes of apples were produced. The average retail price of a kilogram of apples was EUR 1.49, meaning that it took on average 10 minutes of work to earn enough to buy it.

Fewer persons in employment, more notable decrease among those with fixed-term contracts
In August, the number of persons in employment decreased by 0.2% to about 938,200. The number of employees went down and the number of self-employed persons up. A decrease was recorded in more than half of sections of activities, the largest in manufacturing.

Again more passengers at the airport and in ports
At the road border crossings, more passenger and goods vehicles were recorded than last August. At the airport, more passengers were recorded and more goods were handled. In Slovenian ports, the number of passengers and the amount of goods handled were higher.

The value of construction put in place in August was 0.4% lower than in the previous month but a quarter higher than in the same month a year ago.

Total output of environmental protection services higher than in 2022
In 2023, the total output of environmental protection services was 11.8% higher and the total environmental protection expenditure 27.1% higher than in the previous year.

Road goods vehicles carried almost the same amount of goods
In the 2nd quarter of 2025, road goods motor vehicles carried 27.2 million tonnes of goods, 1% more than in the same period the year before. They performed 5.1 billion tonne-kilometres, 13% fewer than in the 2nd quarter of 2024.
