hell yeah!!
just look for them in clear water....but look real close as they can be hard to see if you dont know what to look for.
look for little brown torpedo shapes.

Definitely. If you have a boat anchor or drift around a mix of reef, sand and weed and use the same jerking retrieve as you would at night. Use more natural coloured jigs too. If your shore based then do the same things you would at night, just artificial lighting isn't so important.

I walked out into the weed bed at the back of Port Fairy on a very sunny day.
Had my 4lb Dawia Heartland rod and a Shimano Sienna with 6lb flouro carbon and my favourite Yo-Zuri 2.0 jig.
First cast in the 1m deep water produced a "swoosh" behind the jig as it came up onto some reef.
I was fairly sure it was a squid or calamari.
Ended up snagging my jig a few casts later, so had to go for a little swim to get it.

Ive only just started fishing for squid for the first time in the last couple of months and so far Ive pulled up around 100!! and all during the day. 8am 12pm 10am 4pm 7pm doesn't seem to matter I recon. I live in Chelsea so Im pretty close to Beauie, Mornington and not too far from Mt Matha. I just go when I get that taste for calamari or want to impress my mates with a fancy BBQ.
So unless Ive been really lucky, I think the best time is when you feel like going and just being amongst it.
Not every one has that luxury.

you can catch as many if not more squid during the day than at night.

If your on a boat, 1 out the back and cast around into weed and rock patches, once you find one there will usually be a couple. Landbased just try to cover ground until you find em!

Night usually restricts you to lit areas or you have to attract with forms of light. Day gives you more ground and there's more around. Pretty much anywhere there's weed beds. So all you need to know is weed, weed and more weed. Any other aspect of it is technique. Mind you, you can catch without any particular technique, but once you've learnt some, you'll definately notice an improvement in catch rate.

Hi Mate,i go catch my calemares and seacats from the harbourheads in Camaret sur Mer on the French west coast,my experience is,during the the day they are hunting bit deeper and are easelier caught by low water,during evening and night best spots are by the harbour lights and they hunt real high up on the surface,at night lot more small once as during the day i catch several over one meter long.
