昭和11年、北国で暮らす少年・草太は貧しいながらも祖父と2人で慎ましく暮らしていた。草太のそばにはいつも秋田犬のチビと村一番の令嬢・早代がおり、草太は絵描きになることを夢見ていた。草太と早代は密かに心を通わすが、クリスマスの夜、2人に悲しい運命が訪れる。
Set in a small village in the early Showa period, a young boy, Souta, lives with his grandfather who works as a charcoal burner. While struggling financially, the pure-hearted Souta enjoys his days with his grandfather, a great landlord's daughter, Sayo, and his beloved buddy, a puppy named Chibi. Souta dreams of one day becoming a painter. With the eventual death of his grandfather, however, Souta is left alone and is thrown into an even harsher turn of events.
アカデミー賞最優秀外国語映画賞を受賞した『おくりびと』の脚本家・小山薫堂が「フランダースの犬」をモチーフに書き下ろした感動ドラマ。
A heart moving drama in the motif of 'A Dog of Flanders.' It is written by Koyama Kundo, the scriptwriter of Departures (Okuribito) which won an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
