Relevant Information:

Currently treated in some publications, and FishBase (2009), as Pelteobagrus nitidus. Was named as Leiocassis nitidus before this. Etymology: The genus name of Tachysurus: tachys, swift; oura, tail, referring to the presumed agility of T. sinensis based on its “long and nimble” tail (translation). The specific name of nitidus: neat, elegant or shining, allusion not explained, perhaps referring to “reddish body, wine-coloured towards the back” (translation), (Tachysurus nitidus). Remarks: Still found in some online sources as as Pseudobagrus nitidus.
