SF was a small ship surface search radar, used primarily in frigates and corvettes. Early models were unusually buggy and
field testing did not begin until June 1942, but the final production
set was highly reliable, with a mean time to failure of 375 hours.
Fifty sets were delivered to the British as Lend-Lease and a
number of others were installed in Free French
ships in American ports.
