One Ocean Week Seattle is a region-wide, international gathering of ocean leaders, innovators, researchers, startups, policymakers, artists, educators, and communities to accelerate solutions for a sustainable, inclusive maritime future. Hosted by Washington Maritime Blue, the week features summits, cultural events, community activities, youth and workforce development programming, and global delegations – all with the aim of catalyzing the Blue Economy while leading on climate action, ecosystem health, and equity.
On Friday, October 24, 1:00-4:00, some of our own graduate students, Brooke Carruthers, Taylor Walton, Katie Kohlman and Samantha Juber and one of our alumni and staff members, Mariella White, will be presenting aboard the ONE OCEAN ship docked at Pier 66. Registration required.
Dr. Shima Abadi and her team received some media coverage around their fiber optic cable deployment in Haro Strait The instruments will collect terabytes of acoustic data for detecting and localizing marine mammals. Read more about it.
