alongside USS Camden (AOE-2)'s port side, 26 November 1968 on Yankee Station off the coast of South Vietnam to conduct a routine underway replenishment.
At 1424 two aircraft, An F-8 Crusader belonging to VF-24 Renegades and an the ships Carrier Onboard Delivery aircraft (COD) C-1 Trader parked on the the No. 3 elevator
with their tails hanging over the edge of the elevator became entangled in the hoses and guy wires stretched between the ships to transfer fuel from Camden
to Hancock. Both aircraft ended up on the main deck of Camden. These photos show some of result of the collision and wreckage.
