Many women feel demeaned by
wearing menstrual pads because of
their similarity to diapers.
Many early menstrual pads in
America actually were diapers!
Menstrual tampon advertising has
turned this attitude to its
advantage, as we see in the ad at
the bottom,
an ad for Tampax tampons from the
June 1991 issue of the American Seventeen
magazine.
The upper
picture is from Lei, an
Italian magazine for young women.
The article about tampons, from
October 1991, The Invisible
Protection, has an
obvious illustration.
Tampax
needled pads yet again in ads
from 1989
and 1990.
