Yesterday my local John Deere dealer was good enough to come around and
give me 2 drain plugs for my John Deere tractor that the dealer rounded
the corners on.
These drain plugs take a 1/4 inch hex key. I checked the threads and
they are 14 mm diameter by 1,50 mm thread pitch. A metric thread with a
fractional inch tool necessary to remove it. Being a drain plug and not
subject to a lot of stress, they are made of aluminium, so easily damage
with the wrong tool. I'm fairly sure this has happened on every single
John Deere outside North America!
I already wrote to John Deere in the USA and gave them my thoughts on
the stupidity of this design.
