Following are embroidered coifs from late 16th and early 17th century England, worn by women and children. When possible, coifs are identified by museum accession numbers to help distinguish one from another.

Forehead cloths and coifs were worn together, as in this 1562 portrait of a woman, probably Catherine Carey, Lady Knollys or thie 1590 portrait of Lady Catherine Neville, Lady Constable, aged 60.
