JASC provides much needed community services to people of all ages, ethnicities and economic means
Preserving the cultural heritage of Japanese Americans through events and education
Collecting and archiving materials reflecting the Japanese American experience in the Chicago area
JASC is partnering with the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association for an exclusive panel discussion on the importance of preserving Japanese American oral histories.
Ross Harano and Linda Kawano—contributors to the JASC Legacy Center’s Oral History Project—will share personal stories from their experiences during and after World War II incarceration. Erik Matsunaga will provide historical context on Japanese American resettlement in Chicago, and Mike Tanimura will speak to JASC’s enduring role in supporting and strengthening the community.
