2. International Conference, Forum, and Program

Vietnam-Japan Workshop: The Impacts of Sedimentation Decrease in River System Vietnam

Disaster Management Collaboration Dialogue workshop between Vietnam and Japan was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on December 8, 2016. The workshop was based of the MOC (Memorandum of Cooperation) in the fields of Water Resource Management, Water -related Disaster Management and Climate Change Adaptaion beteween Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), which was exchanged in August 2016.
About 90 people from the two governments, local authorities, JICA, GIZ, institutes ad private companies attended. The theme of the workshop is the impacts of sedimentation decrease in river systems in Vietnam. Comprehensive sediment management in Vietnam and Japan as well as problems and countermeasures of bank erosion, sand beach erosion and landslide disaster were explained and discussed.
