Alex Steininger The Shakes' self-titled full-length is a true-to-form power-pop record - crunchy rhythms, jangle-y guitars, slightly off-key, but passionate vocals, and an overall feeling of happiness bopping along with every note. The songs swim around in your head, the guitars have enough juice to make you want to rock, and the sugary center is quite the treat. I'll give it a B.
