Alex Steininger Long, drawn-out, intricate, guitar-driven indie-rock songs. That's the best way to describe the Mercury Program. However, being very competent, amazing musicians makes it hard to not enjoy, if only for a bit, the band's delivery of instrumental indie rock. However, when all is said and done, the overly lengthy songs, the lack of hooks or vocals, and the lack of real power (other than the space-emo-hardcore elements they combine) makes it a hard record to really dig after a long period of time. I'll give it a C.
