Alex Steininger Starter Kit is a Portland, Oregon trio that packs a quartet punch into its three-minute jangle-y pop songs. Indie-rock at the core, Starter Kit will find a fan base within the Northwest's indie-rock clubs. But, pop fans far removed from indie rock will also find something to enjoy, as the hooks are bright and shiny, and front man Jeff Pending's songs are well crafted with a wider audience in mind. I'll give it a B.
